Illustrations for The Daily Donut
All recipes need images of the actual food. For the donut recipes, I wanted the images to be sharper, brighter, and more fun than the usual food photography. I thought it would be fun challenge to make vector illustrations more appetizing than photos.

Vectors Good Enough to Eat
All of these illustrations are real vegan donuts that we baked, frosted, and sprinkled. We took photos of each batch of donuts, and I used the photo as a reference for the vector illustrations. I saved them as compressed svg files, so they stay vector-based on the web and look super crisp on screens of all sizes.
Successes and Achievements
The illustrations make people crave donuts. They also make people smile and look forward to the next day's illustration. Those are my only metrics for success.
I learned how to create the illusion of depth with flat, unmodulated color. This is especially useful for printing methods with limited ink colors like letterpress, offset, and risograph.
